Scrap Handling
Electromagnets designed for the efficient handling of scrap material are available to order up to 80” / 2m in diameter. Typical scrap lifting capacity up to 3 tonnes depending on scrap type.

Billets, Blooms, ingots and bars
Bi-pole magnets, which feature two coils, offer a directed electromagnetic field to effectively pick up narrow components. Used in multiples on a beam arrangement offers the perfect solution for efficient picking and handling. Safe Working Load from 500kg to 25 tonnes

Hot Work
Available for small operations such as opening coke oven charging lids to handling hot steel slab. All our magnets can be adapted to work in high temperature environments. Features include double coil protection plate, adapted body design for optimum heat dissipation, high temperature insulated copper wire, and heat resistant barriers. We will listen to your lifting requirements and design the magnet accordingly.

Slab
Heavy Duty Deep Field or Extra Deep field magnets are ideal for heavy slab handling. Most commonly supplied as circular but rectangular is also an option. Can be used in multiples on a beam arrangement. Safe Working Load up to 40 tonnes per magnet

Sheet
Rectangular magnets used in multiples on a beam or double beam arrangement can effectively hand one or more sheets of steel. The spacing of the electromagnets is calculated to avoid peel off as the sheet flexes on lifting. We can advise on multiple plate lifting in a stack. Steel Coils
Efficient handling of coils and easy pick overhead pick up can be achieved with a coil handling magnet, thus reducing wasted aisle space necessary for access by conventional methods. Eye-vertical and eye –horizontal versions are available. Talk to our team to discuss your specific application.

“Drop Baller” Or “Drop Balling”
In this application the magnet is typically used to pick up a large steel ball and drop it onto slag in order to break it up for reuse in steel making. The type of magnet is sometimes call a ‘skull cracker’ magnet, Skull being an alternative name for slag poured onto the ground.
Heavy Duty Deep Field or Extra Deep field magnets are ideal for this application and include special feature such as shocking plates to help the magnet work effectively in such a harsh application. Safe Working Load up to 13 tonnes
